Woolston Infant School
British Values
At Woolston Infant School we want all our children to become responsible, active citizens who participate in democracy and public life with respect for each other.
We ensure children understand the difference between right and wrong and respect and tolerate differences in a diverse and modern Britain.
The Dfe have reinforced the need ‘to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote fundamental British values’ The Government set out it’s definition of British Values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy, which sits alongside the Equalities Act. The British Values are an integral part of our school ethos and curriculum.
- Democracy
- The rule of Law
- Individual Liberty (Personal freedom)
- Mutual Respect
- Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
British Values strongly link to our School Behaviour Policy and Our School Values.
