Curriculum Vision: Art

“Some painters transform the sun into a yellow spot, others transform a yellow spot into the sun.”

Pablo Picasso

At Woolston Infants School, our purpose in Art is to provide a pathway for creative expression and allow children to develop what Art means to them. We aim to ensure that Art is accessible for all in every lesson and that all children gain the knowledge and skills necessary to experiment, invent and create their own works of art. Our Art and Design curriculum enables children to discover new artists, old and young, and encourages them to be inspired by them. Children follow through a process of designing, making and evaluating their artwork, with additional time to explore and practice new skills before completing final pieces. At Woolston Infant School, Art allows children to develop necessary life skills such as problem-solving and understanding of the world around them, and make links between other areas of the curriculum.

An artist at Woolston Infant school is provided with opportunities to be creative, imaginative, and be inspired. Our vocabulary rich content allows them to develop the knowledge, skills and vocabulary they need to be successful artists.
