Woolston Infant School

RE

Curriculum Vision: RE

At Woolston Infant School our aim to develop happy, confident and curious learners who are keen to explore the world around them. We set out to develop pupils’ understanding of a range of faiths, views and beliefs both in and beyond our local area. Pupils at Woolston Infant School explore religious beliefs in depth – appreciating the similarities and differences between Christianity and other faiths such as Hinduism. Our Religious Education curriculum provides all children with a strong foundation built on knowledge. This allows our pupils to develop critical thinking skills, and to develop respectful and open-minded attitudes.

We follow Living Difference IV, the agreed syllabus for the teaching of Religious Education in Southampton and Hampshire. Living Difference IV offers a set of principles for teachers to use to ensure that Religious Education is open to the plurality of ways in which people live in our local, national and international communities.

Parents have the right to withdraw their child from any part of the RE curriculum. Please speak to Mr Arthur if there are any concerns.
